I was struck by how many believers in Honduras understand that this earth is not their home and how they exercise that faith every day.
I met Leonard - husband, father, and sacrificial servant. He moved from TX to Honduras to run a children’s home. Although he is suffering, his only request was prayer for his wife.
I met Pastor Alison - husband, father of 3, full-time pastor, oversees a girls home with over 20 girls and several boys with very few resources and at times, at the expense of his own family.
I met nurses in the NICU that pooled their money together to fix broken windows and purchase hand soap - even when they can go months without pay.
I met a father who enrolled his daughter Nissi (who’s the youngest of 8) in New Life School without having the money because he felt God's call for his daughter and knew He would provide.
I met firefighters who built their own station without help or pay because they wanted to help save others.
I met a police chief who publicly professed his faith and attributed all the success of his department to God.
Because of the generosity of Crosspoint and our Honduras team members, Leonard was blessed with funds to cover a few expenses. Pastor Allison now has a concrete pad and 18 new windows to keep the flies and mosquitos out of the places where the children sleep and eat. The girls were given beautiful gift bags. The NICU nurses were given hand soap and baby formula. Nissi's school is being sponsored. The firefighters have two sets of satellite radios, two suitcases of medical supplies, and hopefully, will soon have a new ambulance. The police had a lovely breakfast served by sweet kids and they have a freshly painted courtyard.
Helping these amazing people of faith answer God's call (alongside my family) is something I will never forget. We all left a piece of our hearts in Honduras and we can’t wait to go back.
