Steve Hay
At our Membership Celebration last Sunday, we had the privilege of installing three new deacons at Crosspoint. Last week, we introduced Deacon David Engel, and this week, we are introducing Deacon Steve Hay!

Steve and his wife Laura have been with us at Crosspoint since early 2019. They faithfully serve as Community Group co-leaders, as well as leaders on our Lord’s Supper Team and our Member Care Ministry.
Married for 44 years, the Hays have three married kids and eight grandchildren.
(...Their son, Ian, and his family also attend Crosspoint!)
Steve and Laura raised their family in Southern California, where Steve was a teacher for 35 years. When it came time to retire, the Hays felt God calling them to move to an area where they could be more useful to the kingdom and where they wouldn’t have to be as concerned with the cost of being retired… so they ventured to the great state of Texas!
Steve and Laura visited several churches their first few months after moving, but when they came to Crosspoint they immediately knew that there was something God-inspired and led in this congregation.
Steve said, “I love the practice of a plurality of elders/pastors here. That is demonstrated when we have expository preaching from a variety of viewpoints. I am impressed with the amount of involvement that the congregation has. I think that there are expectations of involvement and service to the body is a sign of godly and scriptural shepherding. I love the emphasis on community groups as the heart of our body, both spiritually and in meeting needs. I am impressed with the transparency and humility of many of our young families. I want to be like them when I grow up. I love this body of believers.”
Steve came to know the Lord at the age of twenty, after a time of searching for some meaning in life beyond just living for himself. He said his relationship with Laura was the single-most important factor in leading him to Christ.
Since then, he served as a deacon for eight years and an elder for 14 years at their former church in Long Beach, California. He is thankful to take up the role of deacon again at Crosspoint.
When asked how the Lord is growing him in this season, Steve said, “I think I have been most challenged recently in the area of relying on God to get me through difficult relationships and situations, rather than my own power.”
In his free time, Steve says he loves to have people in his home for a meal, playing music, and doing card magic. (...ask him for an invitation! 😉)
