"Even if we knew they only had six months left to live, we wouldn't love them any less."
My eyes had been opened to the massive need for foster care. One night, my husband and I got a call about a baby boy needing a place to stay for a few weeks. Those weeks turned into two years and we were recently able to adopt him.
We're currently fostering another child, a sweet little girl. When people hear our story, I'm frequently told, "I could never do that. I'd get too attached."
We don' t know how much time we have with her but the same is true of our other kids. We're not promised tomorrow. Even if we knew they only had six months left to live, we wouldn't love them any less. Just like parenting, foster care requires us to hold our children loosely and to recognize that they're not ours - they're God's.
There is a huge need for more open foster homes in our county. Would you be willing to offer your guest bed to one of these little ones?
