"I can still feel the tugs and hugs from the children at the refuge in La Mesica."
I have been to Honduras twice now and I have been blessed beyond belief.
I can still feel the tugs and hugs from the children at the refuge in La Mesica. These children have been abused/abandoned and are looking to find healing and love. The home has a couple that are the "parents' to these 25+ children....teaching them about God's love and giving then first hand attention, while showing them the grace and mercy that Jesus offers them. You can never forget the experience of being in this compound and hearing the children's stories and laughter.
The maternity home at the La Cieba hospital is also a passion of mine. I will never forget the shock of seeing women (who just gave birth) sleeping on the concrete sidewalks....waiting for the opportunity to see and nurse their newborn baby that is in the NICU. Then, they return to a cold hard "bed" as they wait their next opportunity to spend time with their baby. These new mothers will soon have a place to stay while they await the birth of their child, and a place to stay while their child is still in the hospital. Our church has given funding for this construction project....which means that all of us at Crosspoint are making an impact on the lives of these families!
Some of us have signed up to sponsor the education of Honduras children at a local Christian school. Getting to visit "my" students is pure joy for me. I have also developed relationships with their parents and we communicate throughout the year about their child's progress in school and life in general. These are very special relationships!!!
I encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to spread God's love and the good news by signing up for our summer trip to Honduras. Come to the info meeting after the 10am service this Sunday and learn how you can be a part of this incredible and life-changing ministry.
